How It All Started

Burgess Cattle Company was established in 1979 when a purchase agreement was made by Randy Burgess with a Horned Hereford breeder named Mr. Causey, located in Central, NC. The cattle purchased were from Upstream Ranch located in Taylor, Nebraska. By 1989, he dedicated to transitioning to Polled Herefords and did so with the purchase of Louada 15G Olive 162R, an exceptional Dam of Distinction.

After many generations of the Olive family, the transition to Grass Grain Genetics was introduced into the herd by the private treaty purchase of Berg Jen 64S ET from Dale Stith of Kentucky. Once obtained, she has been flushed to bulls such as:

BTF 167 5100ET

Edisto E132 Plato Domu 457 ET

NT Rupert 52

Clemson 136 Battle Rupert X336 ET

KCF Bennett Revolution X51

Grandview Victt 1322364003 ET

RB CL Domino 15G 156R

This has created a large female base of Grass Gain Genetics that we are currently using today!
